There is mounting evidence that the industry needs centre around skills levels 3 to 4 although overall needs include the broader continuum.

Aim

To make the East Midlands’ FE sector synonymous with an exemplary and comprehensive approach to delivering new energy skills to industry and driving the transition towards a low carbon economy.

Objectives

The following objectives will be used to set the framework to pursuing this Aim:

  1. Develop a coordinated and evidence-based approach to the delivery of energy skills across all of the energy sectors
  2. Develop regional support for the FE community to share experience and expertise
  3. Focus activity around three principles;
    1. Addressing barriers to progression through the skills continuum
    2. Targeting Level 3 skills provision
    3. Increasing "volume"
  4. Develop complementary elements of provision in terms of facilities, competencies and facilities across the region and support integration and collaboration in delivering regional skills and services
  5. Encourage where appropriate the development of  centres of excellence that offer specialist provision in particular technologies, skills or sectors

These Objectives will be delivered via a Work Plan, initially 12 months, that set out specific activities that the Task Group prioritise.
