The Energy Technology Teaching Equipment Grant Programmes was launched at the offices of emda today (13th June 2008). The programme is managed by ProEnviro on behalf of emda. In the initial round of tendering for the grant, four bids were selected to represent a wide range of FE colleges in the region covering a comprehensive range of energy technologies. The programme uses £400,000 of emda grant support to assist colleges in procuring energy technologies for teaching purposes. The project will produce a much needed boost in energy technologies skills in the region and the initial phase will deliver to over 1,200 learners in the region by December 2009.

The launch event was hosted by emda and ProEnviro with attendees from Grantham, Northampton, South Nottingham, Stephenson and New colleges delivering presentations to the meeting. Learning areas include solar hot water, photovoltaics, ground and air source heat pumps, wind turbines, heat recovery and energy control systems, alternative automotive drive technologies and a host of associated disciplines.
